William Boyd Chisum featured
in July issue of The Gospel Magazine
The Song Of My Life, July 2011
by William boyd Chisum
If I mention the song “Ring of Fire” to any country music fan, they could tell me that it was Johnny Cash who sang it. Mention “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” to almost anyone on the face of the planet and they’d tell you it was the group known as the “Fab 4”, The Beatles who sang it first. Some songs mark a singer for life. Marty Robins will always be synonymous with the song “El Paso”, just as “Midnight Cry” will always be attributed to Ivan Parker. Read More

William Boyd shares a special story
Bowie County Life/Texarkana Gazette, January 5, 2011
by Pam Kumpe
William Boyd Chisum, the
lead singer with Southern Grace
Quartet, remembers a special
memory at Christmas during a
time when he thought he was
all alone in the hospital.
“I was a young boy and all
alone in the hospital. All the
other children in this hospital
had been discharged in order
that they might spend the
holidays with their families. I,
however, was not able to be
released and found myself the
only child left for a skeleton
crew of nurses who were going
to take care of me. I was just too
sick to go home,” Chisum said.
Christmas Eve night the
nurses wheeled his bed out by
the nurses so he would have
someone to talk to and so he
could talk to his parents on the
phone.
“My parents were not able to
travel the more than 10 hours
in order to come see me on
Christmas. As I tried to keep
my quivering bottom lip from
the view of those who were
watching, I told my parents I
understood. But, I really didn’t
understand. All I could think
of was that I was all alone and
Santa Claus would never find
me in that hospital,” Chisum
said. Read More

Boyd’s ‘Miracle Van’ moves me to think
Bowie County Life/Texarkana Gazette, May 6, 2009
by Pam Kumpe
It’s time for the story of the “Miracle Van.”
It all started one weekend last November when singer William Boyd Chisum held a concert in Brighton, Mo., at Brighton Highway Assembly of God.
As Boyd and his crew drove to their destination, he mentioned to his friend, Steve Oglesby, that God was nudging him to give his book “Chasing The Wind” away at the concert. Boyd’s wife, Nena, encouraged him to follow God’s leading and to see what God was up to.

Hunter’s Story
A Missionary at 16 Weeks
By Connie Perrin (Mom)
“For You formed my inward parts, You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them” (Psalm 139:13-16, NASB).
“I can’t find a heartbeat,” the doctor said.
It’s hard to know where to begin the story of my precious little Hunter. I saw the Lord work miracle after miracle along the way of his short little life. You see, he was a miracle from the beginning. Read More

A letter from Rev. Preston Taylor - July 17, 2007
Hello William Boyd Chisum,
Praise the Lord! God calls many people to special ministries such as yours in testimony, music and proclamation. Some bury their talents, some misuse their gifts, and others put their hands to the plow and go on with Jesus..........You are responding to what you know in your head and feel in your heart that God wants you to do as a true messenger of Jesus.
Like Isaiah when God asked, "Who will go for us," you have also said, "Here am I Lord, send me." God uses those who are available and you have joined the ranks of an endless line of those who honor the Lord with their life and gifts. Read More

A note from Illa Bong - November 3, 2006
I so loved the testimony and songs of Mr. Chisum, that I purchased his CD and book. I encourage each of you to do the same in support of his ministry. You will be blessed beyond measure. From a very tragic event, he has fought through obstacles that would completely destroy most people. Rather than become bitter and helpless, he has allowed God to mold him into a living masterpiece of the sustaining love of God. His character, determination, faith, and loving spirit, mixed with a delightful sense of humor, should inspire each of us to allow ourselves to be molded by God, and to be all we can be for His Kingdom.

Letter from John Poole - November 1, 2006
Hey Boyd,
When you sang the first 2 songs before giving your testimony I could feel the sincerity and depth of meaning that came to me as you sang. You were singing with a purpose and not just to entertain.
After you shared your testimony I thought so many things--the first was, how impressed I was with your response to the Lord of Praise and Honor and Glory even though most people would have said you had reason to give up.
The second thing that came to mind was, Oh Lord, that more Christians would be patient while God is doing His perfect work on, in and through them, like Boyd obviously has. Think of the glory God would receive. You are a shining example, brother. I pray your message goes far and wide. I am looking forward to reading your book, Chasing The Wind.

Graduation by Bud Brown - September 1, 2006
Graduation
1 September 2006
I’m still working my way through Boyd’s book, Chasing the Wind, a few pages at a time. Each chapter is a short vignette of some memorable event in Boyd’s remarkable life, the sort of thing you want to savor slowly like a fine Port or a good cigar.
This morning I read the chapter about Boyd’s high school years, the remarkable achievements in the face of debilitating pain because he wanted to please the teachers who expected great things out of him. It reminds me that while the Lord promises kingdom rewards for those who achieve for Him in this life, it’s not about the rewards. Read More

DFW Christian Chamber of Commerce luncheon on July 19. - July 23, 2006
“William Boyd Chisum’s powerful testimony and singing presentation was top rated by the members of the DFW Christian Chamber of Commerce in July 2006.” I strongly recommend that you or someone you may know acquire a copy of his book “Chasing the Wind.” It will touch your heart at many levels. We are proud to have been a part of Boyd’s testimony.
Throughout my business career, I have had the opportunity to hear many speakers and I would rank William Boyd Chisum in the highest percentile of Motivational Speakers. What makes him so unique is that his message is about his personal life experiences and is direct from his heart. What he says changes people’s lives. His message has certainly changed my life.

Gospel guitarist’s faith faith-strengthening
Bowie County Life/Texarkana Gazette, Aug 20, 2008
by Pam Kumpe
Will you be running laps in heaven? Well, I know a man who is in training for that heavenly Olympic position right now. It’s gospel singer and musician Boyd Chisum and he challenged me to get in shape spiritually after I heard his testimony last week.
He sang at the Gospel Singing at First Baptist Church in New Boston during Pioneer Days.
He said he is living proof that God makes life beautiful out of awful situations. As a baby, he was given a blood transfusion, only to receive the wrong blood type. When he was about 8 months old, his parents noticed his hips were not growing right, nor did they appear normal. Read More

Singer tells of life's trials, stops Chasing the Wind
By Bill Fentum
Associate Editor
DALLAS -- For Baptist layman William Boyd Chisum, life's challenges started at birth. Born prematurely at a West Texas hospital in 1956, he was given a mismatched blood transfusion that drove his temperature to 106 degrees. Nurses packed him in ice until the fever had passed.
Months later, his parents learned how disastrous the hospital's mistake had been; severe swelling had pushed his thigh bones and hip joints out of alignment, making the simple act of standing unbearably painful. Read More
